About the artist
Ruth Bowey’s work explores the fleeting beauty of nature and memory through a delicate balance of abstraction and realism.
Inspired by organic forms, shifting light and the ephemeral qualities of wild flowers and foliage, she employs soft, atmospheric layers of pigment to create dreamlike compositions. Her process allows the paint and plants to guide the work.
She seeks to capture quiet, meditative moments in nature, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.
A graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art, Ruth has lived and worked in Hong Kong and Tokyo. Her inspiration comes from her background in art history and her current volunteer work at a heritage garden in SW London as well as her love of running in Richmond and Bushy Park and along the Thames.
