About the artist
Ruth Bowey’s paintings explore the fleeting beauty of nature and memory through a delicate balance of abstraction and realism.
Inspired by organic forms, shifting light and the ephemeral qualities of wild flowers and foliage, she employs soft, atmospheric layers of pigment to create dreamlike compositions. Her process allows the paint and plants to guide the work. She seeks to capture quiet, meditative moments in nature, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.
A graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art, Ruth has worked in Hong Kong and Tokyo. She has lived in SW London for many years and draws much of her inspiration from the beautiful wild spaces of Richmond Park and the Thamespath.
Her work as been exhibited at Orleans House Stables Gallery in Twickenham, the Teddington Landmark, Chelsea’s Gallery at Green and Stone and the Southbank’s Oxo Gallery.
